Ticket To Ride

This song needs no explanation – a wonderful cover of the original Beatles tune – written by Lennon and McCartney – I love this version done by the Carpenter’s the best.  And for reasons of nostalgia – it seems the proper choice today.  I grew up with Carpenters music – and have always loved this arrangement.

If you are a fan – you will also love the rare photos of the Carpenter’s seen toward the end of this video.

My wonderful son launches into the world tomorrow morning – with a ticket in his hand – off to follow his dream.

  1. I know that feeling well Cindy…my oldest son was released into his dreams last year. Praying your son finds the path a blessing wherever the Lord leads him.

  3. I don’t have any kids (nor am I married), so I don’t know what it’s like to have your kids leave, or feel the empty nest syndrome. I’m sure it must be difficult for you, but I also feel pretty sure you are leaning on God during this time.

    P.S. Your son is very good looking! Too bad I wasn’t about 20 years younger ;o)

  4. I sure know what you’re going through. My dd left home three years ago for college half way across the country. I was never able to visit her. I had to keep her door to her room closed for months til I could walk by without crying. But then she left for Russia, half way around the world. It was at that time I realized how good I had it when she was in the states. I couldn’t even talk to her much in Russia because she didn’t have much internet access and the phone system didn’t work well at all. Hold on to the phone calls and skype opportunities you will find with him. It does get better. After graduation, Kelsey will be headed to seminary to learn to be a Christian councilor. Then she’ll be off to Russia for about 5-7yrs. I’m not happy about it, but I’m better prepared. It’s not easy being a mom. First we think it’s the potty training or terrible twos. Then we are convinced it’s the teen years, but it’s not. It’s the letting go. It’s hard but it does get better. I promise!

    • Thanks JoJo – I cannot even imagine overseas! Ugh. I feel your pain. At least we have all the latest in technology to keep in touch – not like 30 years ago when my soon to be husband was working in Alaska all summer before we were married and we talked on the phone once a week – it was EXPENSIVE! I’m thankful for the almost 20 years of investing into Shawn and he is an excellent young man in every way – I know that God will protect him and order his steps.
