Okay I just had to write down a few thoughts about my future son-in-law, Drew – and how lucky we feel to have him join our family.
When anyone comes into your family – when your family has always been close and just “us four and no more” it is not easy to let someone from the outside come in to your world. But I have to say that Drew is very different from any young man that I have ever known of his age – and he fit into our family quite easily and quickly. His love for our daughter and for our whole family has stood the test of time and we have built a strong friendship with him – each one of us in the family.
Tonight Drew and I went on a date. Just him and me – for a coffee and a movie. We had a great time – great conversation and I gave him a letter that I had written for “my future son-in-law” 4 months before I even met him. So the night had very special meaning for both of us – in that I was able to share with him my heart and how much he means to me – and yes – I did cry. I just had to share it with all of you. God is good to us – even when we don’t always feel like we deserve it – He takes care of us – He takes care of our kids – and it’s so much more than I could have ever asked for – and I’m so grateful and so blessed.
I will always remember this special evening with him. I hope I will get many opportunities to be with him like tonight – no one else around – just us – so we can really “talk” and share what’s on our hearts. My daughter is a lucky girl to have a man like Drew in her life. And I know she knows it.
I have prayed for Drew since he was a little boy – years before I knew him – just like I am praying for the girl that Shawn will someday marry. If you have children – I encourage you to do the same.
God Bless.
Cindy, we are blessed indeed!
Thanks, Deanna! I will be sure to remind him of that when he gets too cocky – as all men do from time to time
That is awesome, friend! I shall do the same! I think Drew might be lucky to have all of you and especially Ashlee too!
